Design Team Member Kate is back with another idea in her quest to use the things in her stash in new ways. Today Kate is here to show you how to make an eclipse card with large letter dies and rubber stamps.
This is a great idea for a personalized project. Use the recipients name, Mom/Dad for Mother's/Father's Day, or you can even use your number dies for a milestone birthday/anniversary.

How to Make an Eclipse Card
*Note that while we are showing this technique with a stamped background, you can also get the same look with a piece of patterned scrapbook paper.
To begin, stamp and emboss (with embossing powder) your large background stamp on a panel of 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" white cardstock. Take your alphabet dies and cut your word from this panel. Then, use some ink to color this word (I used Distress Oxide Ink).
Use those same dies and cut several pieces (I used 4) from white cardstock.
Adhere your panel to your card base. Use those extra die cuts to fill in the space where you cut out the letters, stacking them one on top of the other. This creates dimension for your eclipse letters.
Working with the letters you cut out of the initial panel, use ink to blend color into the edges.
Place your colored letters on top and you have an "eclipse" look. The word pops off the page, but still maintains the look of the background. Add a sentiment strip and you're done!

I hope you're inspired to create your own stamped eclipse card. And remember, if you're not a stamper, you can do this technique with patterned paper! Just diecut your letters and add some shading with ink.

This is a really great idea. Can’t wait to try this technique.
This seems like a super fun and unique way to design a card or any artwork with a personal touch. Can’t wait to explore and try this weekend. I don’t have a full stamp/ink inventory, but I’m invested in keeping at least black and brown ink pads for shading & shadows on patterned paper as suggested.
